LG Display Takes the Lead in OLED Production

Reports state that LG Display OLED screens will enter mass production for the iPad Pro in February 2024. The company plans to produce between 6.2 million and 6.5 million units annually. Meanwhile, Samsung Display expects to supply around 4 million OLED screens to Apple.

The upcoming iPad Pro models will feature LG Display OLED screens in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, offering a major upgrade from the current LCD panels. Additionally, the next-generation iPad Air will come in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch versions but will retain LCD technology.

LG Display Surpasses Samsung in OLED Technology

LG Display holds an advantage over Samsung by adopting a “double-layer tandem structure,” which improves display durability and efficiency. The company has also advanced in organic light-emitting material research and development. Although Samsung Display previously faced yield issues, it has now resolved them.

Next-Generation iPad Pro May Feature MagSafe Charging

Rumors indicate that Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro will support MagSafe wireless charging, making charging more convenient. The device may also feature a redesigned Apple logo made of glass, while the rest of the body remains aluminum. This change could enhance the premium feel of the iPad Pro.
