
[Secret News]On September 19, according to the latest statistics released by AVC Revo, display panel shipments in August 2022 were 10.7 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 25.9% and a month-on-month decrease of 7.8%. It is worth noting that with the strategy of brand manufacturers to strictly control panel inventory, the decline in display panel shipments further expanded. Display panel shipments this month once again set a new record for the lowest shipment this year.
Aowei Cloud pointed out that entering the third quarter of 2022, the chill in the display market is still spreading, and brand manufacturers’ purchase demand for panels is still in the process of overall downward revision.
Display panel shipments from January to August 2022 & year-on-year
Looking specifically at the shipment performance of panel manufacturers, BOE shipped 2.8 million display panels in August this year, a year-on-year decrease of 37.5%. Among them, the shipments of the main internal supply sizes of 23.8 inches and 27 inches continued to shrink. Followed by LGD, which shipped 2.3 million pieces in August, a year-on-year decrease of 26%. It is worth mentioning that HKC’s display panel shipments in August were 1.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 50.5%. It performed relatively stably amid frequent downward revisions in demand, ranking third.
In August, AUO display panel shipments reached 1.4 million units, ranking fourth. However, this marked a significant 41.7% year-on-year decrease. Similarly, CSOT shipped 1.3 million units, showing only a slight year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, Innolux shipped 1.2 million units, experiencing a year-on-year drop of 34.7%.
In the small-size market below 21.45 inches, shipments fell sharply by 55% year-on-year in August. Although month-on-month fluctuations were minor, the decline was still notable. Furthermore, sizes of 21.45 and 21.5 inches saw a 36% year-on-year drop. Additionally, the key size, 23.8 inches, declined by 7%. On the other hand, larger sizes like 27 inches dropped by 20% year-on-year. Consequently, the recovery of larger sizes remains challenging.
Looking ahead, Aowei Cloud predicts a continued decline in display panel shipments during the third quarter. The total scale is expected to shrink to 33 million units.
